An offline audience

Computers for CommunitiesI recently went to a meeting for a volunteer position that I started with Computers for Communities(C4C) The position that I started was a social media coordinator.

The position itself is maintaining the social media profiles, creating posts for Facebook and Twitter. When we were talking one thing that struck me was the fact that we needed to target our audience. Now that sounds easy enough, but in this case, C4C is targeting people who are in need of computers, so they don’t have internet.

This brings up the question, how to target an audience who primarily  doesn’t have a computer or regular access to the internet? I thought perhaps if we can spread the word about it to other people then the message could get passed on offline. In reality what really needs to be done is some face to face meetings with those in need of computers and or regular access to the internet.

It is like Scott Stratten said, “be awesome.” In my mind, if we share this awesome service to people that don’t have the opportunity to get a computer, we can help bridge the digital divide.

If we can get that message out to enough people, hopefully those people who do need a computer can and will be reached.

So won’t you help me spread the word about Computers for Communities?

Have any ideas as to how we can do this, leave a comment.
